Compassionate Trauma-Informed Therapy for Life Transitions in Durham Region, Ajax & Whitby

I firmly believe that everyone deserves a chance at healing, however, the healing journey can be scary and sometimes discouraging. It is my hope that in our work together, you won’t have to feel alone in what you are facing.

“Our ‘true self’ emerges by fully experiencing and processing our emotions in the presence of a ‘true other’.”

Land Acknowledgement

Inner Soul Psychotherapy acknowledges the lands and people of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation that are covered under the Williams Treaties. Inner Soul Psychotherapy is situated on the Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas, a branch of the greater Anishinaabeg Nation which includes Algonquin, Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi. Inner Soul Psychotherapy acknowledges the injustices of the past and the continued legacy and impact of colonialism on the Indigenous community today.

I am grateful for the opportunity to raise my family, work and provide mental health care on these lands, which are home to Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island. It is my personal commitment to work towards reconciliation by advocating for access to care for Indigenous Peoples as well as to acknowledge the injustices of residential schools.

Sometimes it may feel like it is a slow process which is expected because healing happens when there is a therapeutic relationship of safety and trust. It is important to me that you can feel safe enough to process overwhelming emotions. Together, we will build safety at your own pace.  I am in no rush. My formal training in AEDP and IFS has equipped me so that I can be with you every step of the way. I also integrate informed approaches to other modalities such as CBT and DBT. I hope you will book your free consultation with me to see if we are a good fit for your healing

Experiencing a change in your life may impact your sense of identity and self-worth. This may include but not limited to: Job loss, career change, marriage/divorce, adoption, illness, aging, dementia, caregiving, gender identity, transgender concerns, spiritual and religious beliefs, etc.

Trauma refers to a single traumatic event or a series that causes emotional and psychological harm.  Complex trauma involves multiple or prolonged traumatic events often spanning years. This may include but not limited to: Intergenerational trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, and infertility and reproductive trauma.

I help men and women over 30 who are grieving the loss of a family member, a relationship, or their vision of the future so that they can get through it and find meaning and hope in their life again.

I help caregivers who feel like they’re losing themselves, anxious, and burning out trying to juggle it all alone so that they can rediscover their identity and build inner calm and self-trust. I also support individuals who are experiencing a loss of identity due to age. Most importantly I support individuals who are managing a new diagnosis, chronic disease, or symptoms of dementia.

Perhaps you are experiencing feelings of nervousness, worry, difficulty concentrating, restlessness. Or perhaps you may be experiencing feelings of sadness, tearfulness, loss of interest, fatigue, trouble with sleep, or changes in your appetite. I hope to walk alongside of you to help you manage these feelings and develop coping strategies.

I help first generation individuals born in Canada who are feeling like they don’t belong neither here nor there by walking alongside with them to undo the aloneness, feel comfortable in their own skin and connected to their community and heritage. As a first-generation Canadian, I understand the pressure to achieve and hold it all together.

I help all persons who are questioning their spirituality and/or religion because of a traumatic event(s) in their lives towards feeling more grounded in their beliefs and a stronger relationship with something higher than themselves.

Together, we’ll explore patterns that once protected you but now hold you back, helping you to reconnect with your authentic self and build self-compassion. My approach draws from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) & Internal Family Systems (IFS) training, and somatic work, focusing on deeper healing and not just symptom relief. I believe lasting change happens when we feel safe enough to understand our story.

I plan on walking alongside you every step of the way to explore your struggles and find ways to lessen the burden you are carrying. I hope to shoulder the weight with you by working together on the following concerns that you may have:

I am sensing that you may be here because something must be really weighing heavily on you. Perhaps you may be experiencing the feeling of fear and loneliness of having to tackle something so big on your own. Or do you happen to be going through a life transition leading you to question your self-worth and identity? Do you wonder if there’s any hope after a traumatic event(s) that you had never asked for? Perhaps that trauma originated from many generations ago, from a tragic loss, or when your sense of safety was stolen from right underneath you.
